So many of you ask about my camera gear, so I’m going to take this opportunity to geek out on you! I upgraded to a new Canon digital SLR called the XTi and I am so excited about it! If you are wanting to expand your photography skills and have an amazing creative and learning tool, I am a huge fan of the digital rebel. The new model is even better (faster shutter, self-cleaning sensor, better auto focus, more compact, less expensive) You will be amazed at how sharp and beautiful your photos are. As you can see, I swoon for my camera…
As for lenses, I used the kit lens (18-55mm) for a couple of years before I purchased any others. It is a great all-purpose lens. That said, when I bought my portrait lens, my universe changed. This dreamy lens is beautiful, fast, works well in low light and creates that wonderful shallow depth of field effect we all love.

As a camera lover, I appreciate the tips, but I simply can’t ignore the photo caption – “…only hours before labor began”
What? Is labor happening???
okay, you’ve modified the caption since my previous comment, I hope…or I must learn to slow down as I read!
Hi Andrea-
I had a quick question for you regarding your photography. Do you develop your own stuff or do you have it printed for you? Are there any websites that you would recommend? I feel like you used to have a list of photo resources, but now I can’t find it. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks, Anshu
Oh, for the love of god – I can’t stand all that yummy child energy all over the place in these links you provided!!! Stop it!! Angels everywhere!! Yummy.
All that camera equipment is going on my dreamboard tonight. Swooning is a very appropriate word :~)
This is breathtaking! So strong and yet soft and feminine at the same time… Wow! It touches me in a very distinct way.
i love that you are a camera geek. i am entering into the nerdom as well and you have been such an inspiration. the tips you gave me during your visit here has been HUGE. thank you thank you thank you for that. i love it when artist’s aren’t afraid to share their goodness. i respect that on such a deep level. your willingness to share just makes people fall more in love with you.
like me.

Dude, the Canon EF 50mm compact macro/ 2.5 is my favorite lens in the whole world. The macro thing is the bomb. How fun that we both use fixed 50mm lenses. Woah, I’m having a giddy camera geek moment.
I am so glad you are talking about this because I am just getting into the market for a camera and any insight from a user is better then some sales associate telling me it is the best out there just to make a sale. I like your range of photographs on your site.
Photography is such a great outlet for me because I know that I am not a painter and I can’t sculpt great figures from clay so the best way I know to express myself is through the eye of the camera.
Happy shooting!
TA
oh, by the way…i forgot to mention how yummy this photo is. xoxo
I think I could spend years on Anna Kuperberg’s site. Her pictures are so scrumptious!
Ok, now I feel like I was being unfair. ALL of these sites are scrumptious. I am, however, a SUCKER for wedding pictures. It’s my weakness.
Thanks for posting your camera info. After saving for over a year, I bought the Rebel XT last May, and have been pondering what additional lenses would be good to go with it.
I must also whine that the XTi came out so shortly after I finally made my purchase, and is an improvement over it – I just missed the boat – but I am very happy with the plain old XT.
As always, your pictures are great, and your words compelling.
great comment by kristine above, about this shot evoking strength and femininity. i got a lump in my throat when i read the caption…
i always enjoy your photos. i have been pining for the digital rebel but haven’t made the leap…can’t wait to see these beautiful, crisp, artful shots of little baby superhero!
