“There was a single blue line of crayon drawn across every wall in the house. What does it mean? I said. A pirate needs the sight of the sea, he said & then he pulled his eye patch down & turned and sailed away.”
– Brian Andreas
San Francisco’s only pirate supply store, 826 Valencia. They are opening a superhero supply store in Brooklyn soon!
andrea,
we own that brian andreas print. it’s my partners favorite of his.
this picture is great. you have this way of always making sf look like a magical place. amlost like an amusement park i’ve never been to and really want to go see.
thanks for the pirate supply store link. i will give it to my partner. she secretly thinks she is a pirate.
Your pictures always make me want to move to SF. This one may be my all time favorite. Amazing. And the pirate link, so cool. The company I work for has a pirate as a logo.
The superhero link didn’t work though…
Magical picture Andrea! My Powerpuff Girls calendar for May has a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge on it. 🙂
What an amazing image of the Golden Gate Bridge! It looks so magical. The pirate supply store link sound very cool too …I’ll have to check it out. And I love Brian Adreas artwork and words. This quote is just beautiful…Great post. Thanks for sharing.
oh the pirate store is really cool. I’ve sent the link to a friend of mine who made a short film ‘Peg Leg Pete’ which was about an unemployed pirate trying to get work to buy a new pirate ship. Many misadventures as his hook made it diffiult to wash windows or be a barrista…
this photograph is magical.
and that quote. i bought two of his story people books in amsterdam a few years ago.
this is one of my favourite thoughts. just because of the smile it puts on my face, each and everytime.
thank you. for sharing it today.
oxo.
I LOVE KARL! if you haven’t seen it yet, there are movies of the pufferfish, Karl.
and it totally made my night. thank you.
Andrea,
Great bridge photography.. I never thought of taking a picture of one at night..
I just got Brians new book Traveling Light.. it is awesome.
I met him when he was visiting Tampa a couple years ago and bought the cat at the piano one.
Aunt Ruth says hi from Seattle.

i obviously will need to find out more about the uses of lard in the near future. and then i will sail across oceans and fight scurvy and eventually arrive in San Francisco.
Avast there Mateys!
