birds on a wire

Birds on the Wires from Jarbas Agnelli on Vimeo.

This video blew me away… This is his story:

“Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn’t the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.”

In Diane Ackerman’s book, A Natural History of the Senses, she references a composer who used to look out his window at the view of the mountain range and use the outline against the sky for his musical compositions. Can’t remember the guy…darn this mommy brain…
    Peace.

By the way, I keep meaning to write you – do you ever watch Sesame Street with Ben? I don’t know if the sponsor non-commercials change with location, but there is an Earth’s Best one with a little boy running around in overalls playing veggies as instruments and he always reminds me of Ben. :o)

Thank you! I have often wonderd what birds might sound like if turned to music as they gather on the wires. Thank you. What an Amazing treat! ( I myself do not read music)

It’s nicely done, imaginative but sadly, not legit.
The birds on the wire were either added later or removed (the former being a lot more likely). At 0:58, there’s a picture without the birds and if you overlap that one with “the birds”, you’ll see that this is the same exact picture.
No doubt that by the times the birds are all gone, the clouds would have moved quite a bit and there is no way the tree branches could be in the very same location due to movement with the wind.
Sorry… it’s still nice but not true.

  37. nicola

Besides, Leonard Cohen definitely got there first and nothing will ever come close surely.
