On my bookshelf

carry_on_thumb

It’s a good sign when you are only 17 pages into a book and you think, this might be my favorite book ever. That’s how I’ve been feeling about Glennon Doyle Melton’s beautiful memoir, Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed. It will make you laugh + give you courage all at the same time. How have I not been reading her blog all these years?

I’m also juggling 5 other books. That’s how I roll:

Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber

A Field Guide to Now by Christina Rosalie

My Grandfather’s Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging by Rachel Naomi Remen is always on my nightstand.

What books are you loving these days?

I have Carry On Warrior in my “to read” stack, so I’ll move it to the top. It seems we read similarly; I have read or am reading the rest of your list. I’m currently working on Let the Great World Spin for my book group this month and am enjoying it so far. Different stories all strung together by the time and place of the tightrope walker between the WTC towers in 1974. I’m also enjoying the memoir The Blue Jay’s Dance by Louise Erdich, about her years of early motherhood. Beautiful, beautiful words, which I’m savoring in tiny sips.

I read Daring Greatly a few weeks ago & I am also in the middle of How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber. I’m currently reading also a few other books – like you! Are you on Goodreads.com?

I have the first two on your list on my shelf! I will have to check out the others. Thanks for your words and photos. Both are very healing to me on a daily basis.

Love your book choices! I’m re-reading the How to talk to your kids books at the moment as well. Its so fun (and strange) to try to explain the cartoons to my little boys when they find me reading it! And I love, LOVE, love Rachel Naomi Remen. I’m a medical student and in the midst of the crazy, reading her books brings me back to why I decided to study medicine in the first place! She has so very much wisdom and grace. Right now, I’m reading Raising our Children, Raising Ourselves by Naomi Aldort and loving the way she reframes parenting. I read too many parenting books! But this one really seems to nail the intuitive kind of parenting that absolutely rings true to the kind of parent I hope to be. Also, thank you for sharing your own words of wisdom on life and parenting — I learn so much from you!

I want to read Daring Greatly too! Thanks for the other recommendation–I’ll put it on my list. I want to read more parenting books but I always kind of read them with one eye closed, like I am going to read something that I am doing that is messing up my kid. So right now I’m reading Pay Attention For Goodness Sake by Buddhist teacher Sylvia Boorstein after hearing her on a podcast. She’s so great! It’s here, if you’re interested:

I constantly have many books on my beside table that I am part way through reading. I juggle between them depending on the mood. At the moment I have the Mosquito Coast (read before in high school), Hungry for Change (never read before), Quantum Wellness (read before), Toxic Sugar (never read before) and A New Earth (read before). This is on top of my textbooks and study notes.

Unlike the internet in general, if you choose to advertise on Facebook

highly targeted audience without the need to worry too much about search engine
optimization and other concerns that force internet

There’s noticeably a bundle to find out about this. I assume you made certain nice points in features also.
