You all are making it very hard to choose the winning stories. They are all so good! The judges are making their final selections…

In the meantime, here is a photographer that will knock yer socks off. Her name is Loretta Lux and she is my new photo hero. How in good god did she get these images to look so magical?

I think your mustard flowers have a special bit of magic in them as well.
I’m really curious as to how her photos were put together. They’re very surreal.

  2. andrea

    why thank you!
    🙂
I think she must have put the portrait and the background together digitally. (masterfully)
If so, what an excellent use of technology!

andrea, youre always providing good links!

The text below the photos on the site says something about how she puts the images together. The backgrounds are actually paintings!
They’re amazing – thanks for the link!

Loretta Lux has her own website, too, where you can see more of her work – and a gorgeous self-portrait: http://www.lorettalux.de/

    andrea,
you must not realize the way your photographs touch people also, they are just wonderful.

Your photograph is so refreshing. This is coming from someone who hasn’t seen flowers growing outside in a couple of months. Loretta Lux’s photos are beautiful. I have to wonder though, how does she get her subjects to stand so still? Children, I would think are very difficult to photograph in a pose.

Wow! i just went to Loretta’s web site. Stunning. Stunning.
And I am even more blown away that she painted the backgrounds herself.

loretta is one of my favourite photographers as well.
i was actually in conversation with her about being able to show her photographs in the gallery. she mesmerized me with her photographs, but she is just as amazing a woman in life. having not yet met her personally, but her emails, the phone calls.
she sees the world in a magical way.
another one of my favourite photographers is joyce tenneson [www.joycetenesson.com] and she also has an amazing project called The Light Warriors [www.lightwarriors.org]
and the beauty in it all, is that each and everyone of us sees the world in a way, that no one else can. and these are the things we share… the magic in us.
