I too was moved to tears when looking at the photos and reading about the casualites from the earthquake and tsunami. I was lucky enough once, to visit Indonesia. It was a place of many contrasts. Such color and vibrancy of life. So many smiling people, despite their poverty. It saddens me to think of it as gone…my prayers join with yours for all those lost and suffering.

I prayed that their deaths were swift and painless. I could not imagine any of them having to suffer such a devastating death. May the survivors find peace.

What can we do?! 70,000 people as of today. I cannot even fathom it. And it seems silly to go about my day as usual. They are in my mind and in my prayers.

It really makes other things seem so trivial. I remembered how frightened I was this summer with three hurricanes, but you know, so what? At least we had the opportunity to prepare. It’s just catastrophic, this whole thing. I know it’s half a world away, but when you see parents in hysterics over the body of their child, it becomes personal somehow.

Very Sad, Very Biblical feeling. I pray for all who have suffered and loss.

http://tsunamihelp.blogspot.com/ is a great blog FYI as to the current relief efforts and the best ways to help, et al. Thanks so spreading the word about how to help, I know that everyone wants to in some way. And have a very peaceful New Years!

By the way, I think that donating time or money to the Red Cross is a wonderful thing regardless of catastrophy…let’s all do something
