Be helpless, dumbfounded
Unable to say yes or no.
Then a stretcher will come from grace
to gather us up.
We are too dull-eyed to see that beauty.
If we say we can, we’re lying.
If we say No, we don’t see it,
that No will behead us
And shut tight our window onto spirit.
So let us rather not be sure of anything,
Beside ourselves, and only that, so
Miraculous beings come running to help.
Crazed, lying in a zero circle, mute,
We shall be saying finally,
With tremendous eloquence, Lead us.
When we have totally surrendered to that beauty,
We shall be a mighty kindness.

Andrea, I needed that like you wouldn’t believe. I found out today that my very close friend’s father died yesterday after a short struggle with cancer. I don’t know what to do with myself because I am here in NYC and she is in Dallas. I am struggling with time and with money because both seem to be quite scarce. Her father was such a good, strong, wonderful man. These words reminded me that all I need to do right now is think of her and send my good thoughts and memories to her.
Love everything about your journal–I’m in NC, and everytime I come to your site I feel like my own superhero. You make the dreams seem possible. Keep it up, and as so many other people have said–we love you. Your view of life is truely an inspiration to us all.

I adore Rumi’s poetry. I was lucky enough to take a workshop with Shahram Shiva. (I think his site is Rumi.net) For half the workshop he read Rumi’s poetry with the subtle beat of percussion from various world instruments in the background. The second half of the workshop he taught us whirling. He has worked with many people including Deepak Chopra….needless to say it was amazing.

Surrender brought me to your site, as it often does in moments of doubt, worry, and trouble. I am in the middle of a vaguely demoralizing job search and major life upheaval. What unexpected joy this brought me. Thank you for being so kind and eloquent to us, your readers.

They have a website, where you can see some of the media streams if you missed the show. Just hit “artist profiles”. I’ve never posted but have been a faithful reader since being introduced to your site what seems forever ago by a friend we have in common.
