Color in a jar

My plastic bread tie collection is coming along well! It is slow going but I love the sound of each plunk into the jar and how each color adds to the palette. It was inspired by Lisa Congdon’s A Collection A Day project.

The best part is that Ben will often come home from school, pull one out of his pocket and say,”For your collection.”

What else?

Now I’m thinking about what else I can put in jars that will delight my eye. Vintage buttons? Spools of thread? Beads?

Can you think of more?

Yes to beads, buttons found, the long skinny twist ties, nails, paperclips, rubberbands.

Oh my goodness. I love this and have recently started doing the same thing after Dustin would come home from the golf course with wooden tees in his pocket. I love seeing them in the jar of my wooden spoons. I have also been putting bottle caps in jars. The possibilities are endless 🙂

I love that Ben is right here with you, not only with this, but also with finding faces in your food. What a great partner you’ve got in that little guy. Yay for you, for him, and yay for your colorful and growing collections.

Let the color swatches begin!!! And, of course, you capture them in beautiful photographs.

Love this! I have a canning jar for beads, one for buttons and another for bits of ribbon.

What a brilliant idea. I collect bits and bobs for my daughter’s art supplies when she’s a bit older. I give her a sachet of baby food every other day so and keep the caps in an icecream container. Maybe a nice jar would make it look nicer.

I love this! Just yesterday I started collecting the plastic tops to organic baby food pouches in a jar. I too was trying to think what other colorful items I could collect. I also threw in some plastic bottle caps but I don’t think I’ll get as much color variety there since we mostly drink the same brand of sparkling water.

When we were 8 years old, my friend and I used to collect these, too! Years later, I found them stuffed in an envelope when I was cleaning out a box in the attic.

There is clearly a bundle to know about this. I consider you made certain good points in features also.
